Healthy Digestion

    In our day and age food is becoming more commonly developed, often in labs, rather than harvested freshly. Which of the two do you think your body is most easily going to digest? When you are bloated or burping after a meal it is a signal from your digestive system. These are common occurrences that are considered normal however less common are moment of heartburn or reflux. Not only are they unpleasant, they are signals from your digestive system.

    Digestion is not processing at its most optimal when any of these four physical responses are happening after a meal. You’ll be surprised to learn that 90% of all excess acid symptoms actually result from a lack of acid in the stomach, which is very common with aging. That feeling of excess acid is actually undigested (or improperly digested) in your stomach! 

    Treating these symptoms with an antacid like TUMS, ZANTAC, PEPSID, or worse, PRILOSEC or NEXIUM; adds insult to injury in a very big way. Why is that?

    Because these products reduce stomach acid and prevent the breakdown of proteins such as beef, fish and chicken. Antacids will prevent/limit the release of the pancreas's digestive enzymes from being released which is needed for digestion of carbohydrates.

    Also these antacids reduce the release of bile from your liver and gallbladder that are necessary for the digestion of fats. In fact, they do the exact opposite of what you need to do to eliminate your digestive upset. The solution for undigested food is stomach acid and antacids only further reduce the stomach acids only making the problem even worse on your digestive system.

What can you do?


TIP 1 : Try an old remedy. Before a large meal take 1 Tbsp. of apple cider vinegar in about 4-6 ounces of warm water. If you need, do it before every dinner meal too. If your symptoms improve, you need acid for better digestion. If your symptoms worsen, the lining of your stomach needs to heal and/or you need some gallbladder/bile support. This issue is called “liver invading stomach.”
