The many parts of a body need to be in the best condition for the longest foreseeable survival. This relies heavily on the person themselves taking an active role and every reasonable effort to not endanger their body. Sugar is an inviting yet insidious enemy to the best efforts in living a healthy active life.
Sugars effects on the cardiovascular system
Sugar can influence homocysteine levels in the blood stream. Although this amino acid is usually noted as increasing with meat consumption it as been found that diabetics will have a high instance of homocysteine when glucose is also high.
Homocysteine and the conclusion of its relationship to a body when sugar is supplied to it then makes the effects of sugar clear on the cardiovascular system since high homocysteine levels is a major contributing factor to heart disease, cardiovascular disease, it can produce a significant rise in triglycerides, it can cause metabolic syndrome, may cause high blood pressure and increase cholesterol.
Sugar can cause less effective functioning of two blood proteins, albumin, and lipoproteins, which may reduce the body’s ability to handle fat and cholesterol. It can cause varicose veins, platelet adhesiveness and it can compromise the lining of the capillaries. The higher the sugar consumption the more chances of getting irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Diets high in sugar can cause free radicals and oxidative stress, and so much more.
So you see, it is truly an insidious enemy and even more so to a developing body (as in children) which relies on proper nutrition.
This ultimately effects long term survival for our children's children as well since the reproductive system will also be adversely effected.
CHILDREN
As mentioned above, sugar has its effects on the cardiovascular system, however it is so much more than that for a developing child and the results are seen far and wide in our current society.
Exposing a newborn to sugar results in a heightened preference for sucrose at 6 months to 2 years of age. Premature babies whom are given sugar effects how much carbon dioxide they produce. Immediately introducing this ,well...poison, sets up a life long threat in children. Some issues that sugar cause are:
- Rapid rise of adrenaline levels
- Higher incidence of eczema
- Higher incidence of learning disorders/reduce learning capacity
- Decrease in the intake essential nutrients
- Worsened symptoms of ADHD
Even as adults, we can experience the reduced mental function after a surge of sugar takes over and for however long it takes to course through our bodies. It can and does practically put large full grown men into a long slumber which they may not wake up well rested there after.
So when you see the fluffy pink cakes, and soft baked cookies realize these are dangers and not even close to beneficial in the long run. Please consider alternatives such as sugar free choices, and there are so much, many more options out there that are just as good and even better than sugar!
